Flourishing Faith - Week 11 - Emergency Contact

The other day my 12-year-old son, Wilson, and I was driving home from baseball. We were talking about how hungry we were when we pulled up to a red light. We both saw an ambulance and lots of people outside of the house nearby. We could see someone was being helped and IMMEDIATELY without a second going by my son said, "Lord I pray for the person that is sick, heal them in Jesus name." Tears immediately welled up in my eyes because my son was putting his FAITH into action. I was about to say, "I wonder what happened and I hope they are ok." But my son chose to call upon his emergency contact which was Jesus.

Anytime you fill out paperwork you have to write down a name and number to contact in case of an emergency. I always put my dad because he ALWAYS answers his phone:) When I heard Wilson speak a prayer over someone in an emergency, I was so encouraged. Many times worry, fear, anxiousness, my hubby, or my parents are my emergency contacts. But that night Wilson reminded me that our RISEN SAVIOR needs to be the first reaction to chaos and pain. He is the ultimate healer.
I don't know if you are in any time of small or large emergency but I do want to encourage you to call upon the name of the Lord today. He is there with you and loves you more than you can ever imagine.

Prayer of the week:

Lord, I want to thank you that you never sleep and you are ALWAYS there for me. I pray your Holy Spirit can sweep through my emergency and your Peace will replace my panic or fear. Lord, I pray you can remind me to seek you first and call upon your name above all else with anything I am dealing with. Help me hide your Word in my heart and be light out in the dark world.In Jesus name,

Scripture of the week:

"Call upon Me in the day of trouble;
I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me.”
Psalm 50:15

Tool of the week:

This week I want you to write down a list of people or feelings you RUN to in the midst of an emergency. What is your initial reaction? Then right down attributes of God that can help you in time of need. Search Scriptures on Google on how Jesus came to the need of people when they experienced an emergency and study those this week. I pray this helps you shift your heart, soul, and mind to Jesus Christ more every single day.
