Flourishing Faith Week 2
We are so excited to launch week 2 of Flourishing Faith. Our goal is to help you grow your faith this year. Each week you will receive a Scripture, prayer, and tool to help you focus on what matters most, Jesus Christ. Take time to recite the prayer and scripture throughout the week.
As we go into week 2 we want you to focus on two things you can do to spend more time with Jesus. The other day my friend Aimee randomly texted me to tell me that I was on her heart and she asked if she could pray for me about anything. This short text felt like breath in my lungs. Nobody knew but I was really struggling and felt super discouraged. In an instant, I felt loved and seen. That is EXACTLY what the Holy Spirit does inside of our souls when we open our Bibles and pray to Him. Jesus is always there just waiting for our attention.
Sometimes the easiest things to do are the hardest to do. It's not hard to open up God's Word but why is it so hard to find the time to do it? At the beginning of each year, I always vow to spend more time with the Lord but laziness and excuses usually begin around this time every year. Can you relate?
I want you to take a time audit this week and focus on spending 20 minutes a day with the Lord. It can be in the car rider line, in the morning, or before bed. If you are unsure of where to start reading, start with the book of John and focus on the story of Jesus. Ask the Lord to reveal His character and love through each miracle.
The second thing we want you to do to spend more time with Jesus is to keep journaling. There is nothing sweeter than writing to the ONE who rescued you from sin and shame. Write what you learn through Scripture. Let's go on a treasure hunt with Jesus.
Prayer of the week:
Lord, I pray right now you help me have the discernment to commit to reading my Bible every day for 20 minutes. Help me be aware of how I spend my time during the day. Help me grow in my faith by going on a treasure hunt by discovering who you are. Reveal things to me and help me continue to be in awe of you! Help me hide your word in my heart and be a light in this dark world. In Jesus name,__________________
Scripture of the week:
"Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." Romans 10:17
Tool of the week:
This week is all about being more intentional reading your Bible and journaling. We wanted to create something for you to remind you to get in action. Save the pictures below and use them as your screen savers, each time you look at your phone you will see God's Word looking back at you.
We pray this reminds you to open up the Bible that day. The ministry team and I are praying for you!!!!!
Be Blessed,
~Ashley B Shepherd
