Seasons Change
Can we talk about seasons? First of all, East TN is finally feeling like fall which is my favorite season. I look forward to the cool weather, pretty leaves, and football and chili weekends! I struggle sometimes in summer because I love fall so much. I am more motivated and happy when temperatures are 70 degrees.
I feel like our lives can be similar. We have seasons of life we like better than others. When things are great at work and your children are thriving you are in a winning season. But when you feel lost or like you're walking in the wilderness you can't wait for that season to end. I feel like our culture makes us, especially women, think we should be winning in every season.
We should reach our fitness goals in 5 minutes, be successful at work, and cook the best dinners for your family. You hear the buzzwords hustle, boss babe, and level-up CONSTANTLY! And I am tired of it. Amen!
Maybe I feel this way because I have been in a pruning and wilderness season for the last few years but I also know that I can't be alone. I think it's healthy to recognize what season you are in and what you need to get through it.
Now that the weather is changing I am wearing my favorite daily uniform, leggings, and an oversized sweatshirt. I wouldn't go out in my shorts when it's 50 degrees right? We can do things to help us not just survive the rough season but to search for the purpose in it.
I know that I am in a season of walking through things that are difficult and sad and I need to give myself time to rest and a lot more grace on the daily.
Ladies, the only thing you can guarantee in life is that it changes but God remains the same. Whether you are in a winning, suffering, pruning, or victory season- God is with you!
This may not be your favorite season of life but my prayer is that you have found a new intimacy with God that will one day encourage someone else. I believe God has a purpose for every season including all of the hurt that can come with one. I also believe it's ok to say NO and protect your time and peace in certain seasons.
You are never alone. I see you. And God sees you.
Regardless of what season of life you're in, the one thing that will sustain you is reading God's Word daily. God will be the lifter of your head on the hard days and your biggest cheerleader on the most exciting days.
Season's change but God remains the same.
"For everything, there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven..." Ecclesiastes 3:1
